Red Hawks Baseball survives Spartanburg Methodist 5-2 thanks to Skyler Strickland's late-game heroics

Skyler Strickland brought home the go-ahead run to give the Red Hawks the lead in the sixth inning, as CVCC hung on to beat Spartanburg Methodist 5-2 on Saturday.

After Thomas Waddell hit into a fielder's choice, Strickland homered, bringing home Waddell.

Strickland racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Red Hawks.

Spartanburg Methodist couldn't get anything going so long as Bryce Hensley was on the hill. Spartanburg Methodist managed just two hits off of Hensley, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out five during his seven innings of work.

The top of the first saw Spartanburg Methodist take an early lead, 1-0. Spartanburg Methodist's threat began with a double by Dominique Jackson. A groundout by Ke'shaun Samuel then moved Jackson from second to third.

One run in the top of the seventh helped Spartanburg Methodist close its deficit to 5-2. An error triggered Spartanburg Methodist's comeback. Hensley ended the game by getting Alex Williams to ground out.
