Red Hawks Baseball defeats Louisburg College after late game single, 5-4

The CVCC Red Hawks and Louisburg College volleyed the lead seven times on Saturday, but the Red Hawks came out on top for a 5-4 win on Saturday at Louisburg, NC.

CVCC pulled out the win thanks to a strong eighth inning. The Red Hawks went up for good on an RBI single by Sam Salyers off Marcello Betances, plating Brandon Ford.

The Read Hawks were led by Danny Sullivan's hitting. Sullivan went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.

Louisburg couldn't get anything going as long as Aaron Biggerstaff was pitching. Louisburg managed just one hit off of Biggerstaff, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his three innings of work.

The bottom of the first saw Louisburg take an early lead, 1-0. A double by CJ Needam, bringing home Juan Reyes started the inning off.

After a quick strike from the Red Hawks, Louisburg responded with two runs in the second. Louisburg scored on a two-run home run by Chris Gilliam.

The Red Hawks tied the game in the fourth on an RBI single by Randal Ortiz that scored Sullivan.
