The Red Hawks fall to Pitt in extra innings, 7-8

Lou Matarazzo had three RBIs, but the Red Hawks still fell to Pitt 8-7 in eight innings on Wednesday.

Gavin Huffman ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.

Four relief pitchers made sure the win didn't fall through the cracks for Pitt.

The top of the first saw the Red Hawks take an early lead, 2-0. A two-run home run by Matarazzo, scoring Danny Sullivan started the inning off.

After a quick strike from the Red Hawks, Pitt responded with two runs in the first. Pitt scored on a groundout and an error.

Pitt pushed two runs across in each of the fifth, sixth and eighth. In the fifth, Pitt scored on a two-run single.
