Red Hawks Baseball makes the most of 5 hits in 4-1 victory over CCBC-Essex

The Red Hawks and CCBC-Essex both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was the Red Hawks that were able to capitalize on them as it pulled out a 4-1 win at Hickory, NC.

CCBC-Essex got seven hits compared with just five for the Red Hawks, but CCBC-Essex stranded 11 on base.

Skyler Strickland racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Red Hawks. He homered in the second inning and tripled in the sixth inning.

Justin Norton's seven strikeouts helped the Red Hawksto the victory. Norton allowed one earned run, seven hits and one walk over seven innings.

The Red Hawks went up for good in the second, scoring two runs on a two-run home run by Strickland.

The Red Hawks pushed across one run in both the fifth inning and the sixth. In the fifth, and scored on a groundout by Jake Helms, plating Chase Poplin.
