Red Hawks Second Inning Burst Tops Belmont Abbey JV, 16-2

The Red Hawks jumped out to an early lead on Belmont Abbey JV and captured a 16-2 victory on Thursday.

Thirteen runs in the first three innings allowed the Red Hawks to put the game away early.

A groundout by Skyler Stricklandduring the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Ty Andrus, an error, a fielder's choice, a three-run double by Brandon Ford, an RBI single by Chase Poplin, an error, and a passed ball in the second inning helped the Red Hawks put some runs on the board early.

Ford racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Red Hawks.

Belmont Abbey JV had no answer for Gavin Huffman, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Belmont Abbey JV managed just one hit off of Huffman, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his two innings of work.
