Red Hawks top Belmont Abbey JV behind Randal Ortiz's 3 hits, 22-2

Randal Ortiz hit two home runs to carry the Red Hawks to a 22-2 win over Belmont Abbey JV in five innings.

Fourteen runs in the first three innings helped the Red Hawks blow out Belmont Abbey JV. An RBI double by Ivan Acuna, a passed ball, and a two-run home run by Lou Matarazzo in the first inning and a two-run home run by Trever Lee during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Red Hawks.

The Red Hawks hit five home runs in the win. Additional home runs for the Red Hawks came when Danny Sullivan homered in the third inning and Ortiz homered in the third and fourth innings.

The Red Hawks easily handled Belmont Abbey JV pitching as seven hitters combined for 22 hits, 18 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

Belmont Abbey JV scored one run in the bottom of the second to cut its deficit to four. 

The Red Hawks increased its lead with eight runs in the third. Ortiz's three-run blast got things going, plating Thomas Waddell and Skyler Strickland. That was followed up by Acuna's double, scoring Mykel Davis and Clay Hodges.

The Red Hawks Varsity piled on seven more runs in the top of the fourth. Ortiz kicked things off with a solo home run. That was followed up by Lee's double, scoring Hodges.
