Catawba Valley Community College Red Hawks Varsity beat Patrick Henry 8-7 on Sunday behind Randall Ortiz, who went 4-4 at the plate. The win gave the Red Hawks a 2-1 game advantage in the 3 game series.

Ortiz singled in the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.

Aaron Biggerstaff was in control on the hill. Patrick Henry managed just two hits off of Biggerstaff, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven during his 3 2/3 innings of work.

Four relief pitchers finished off the game for the Red Hawks. Taylor Purus faced six batters in relief, while Josh Bottenfield managed to record two outs to aid the victory.
