Red Hawks defeats USC Lancaster, 9-4

The Red Hawks and USC Lancaster passed the lead back and forth seven times on Tuesday, but in the end the Red Hawks pulled out a 9-4 win over USC Lancaster.

The Red Hawks  took the lead in the ninth inning and held on for the victory. An error scored Jake Helms which gave the Red Hawks the lead for good.

Danny Sullivan racked up four RBIs on two hits. He singled in the first inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Grey Goines looked sharp on the bump. Goines held USC Lancaster hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Five relief pitchers made sure the win didn't fall through the cracks for the Red Hawks. Goines faced nine batters in relief, while Taylor Purus managed to record two outs to aid the victory.

The top of the first saw the Red Hawks take an early lead, 2-0. A single by Sullivan, scoring Ty Andrus and Andrew Meadows started the inning off.

After a quick strike from the Red Hawks, USC Lancaster responded with two runs in the first. USC Lancaster scored on a two-run double.

The Red Hawks got one-run rallies in the second inning and the seventh. In the second, the Red Hawks scored on a sacrifice fly by Sullivan, scoring Helms.
