Red Hawks baseball wins the Region X / Southeast District Championship

The Red Hawks calimed the Region X/Southeast District championship with an offensive onslaught.  The Red Hawks scored 13 runs on 13 hits with hits by 9 different players.

The Red Hawks were able to jump on the board first in the bottom of the second when Randal Ortiz hit a line drive shot to the centerfield wall for a double scoring Lou Matarazzo who reached on a leadoff single.  A fielders choice from Thomas Waddell scored Brandon Ford who reached on an error by the centerfielder.  Clay Hodges hit a 2 out single scoring Waddell to add the third run in the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth the Red Hawks are able to add two more runs with a wildpitch scoring Matarazzo from third, who reached on a walk, and Ford scoring when Waddell hit a single to left field.

In the top of the 4th Pasco-Hernando was able to notch as score with a single driving in a run.  With the bases loaded and one out a deep fly ball was hit to Ford in right field, after the catch Ford fired a shot home getting the runner out who was tagging up to end the threat.

Pasco-Hernando tacked on two more runs in the top of the 5th to cut into the Red Hawks lead.  Pasco used a sacrifice fly and a groundout to bring in runners from third. 

The Red Hawks have the flood gates open in the bottom of the 6th scoring 5 runs.  The scoring started with a solo homerun by Acuna.  Matarazzo came up with Sullivan at first by a walk and hit another homerun over the centerfield fence.  The Red Hawks tacked on 2 more runs when Ortiz drove in Ford who reached on a triple and Ortiz later scored on a sacrifice fly by Hodges.

The Red Hawks struck again in the bottom of the 7th, when Ortiz logged another RBI by driving in Chase Poplin who reached on a walk and a sacrifice fly by Mykel Davis scoring Andrew Meadows on third.

Bryce Hensley started the game for the Red Hawks and threw 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and posting 5 strikeouts.  Phillip Black came on in relief in the 5th and was able to allow 0 runs on no hits with 1 strikout and is credited with the win.  Aaron Biggerstaff and Josh Bottenfield come in for relief shutting down the Pasco-Hernando offense.
