Red Hawks can’t overcome Peaks, Titans

JAMESTOWN, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team dropped its second game in as many days on Wednesday, falling 93-83 to host Guilford Tech at the Ragsdale Family YMCA.

Freshman forward Isayah Johnson paced the Red Hawks (6-8, 1-4 in Region X) with 16 points and 14 rebounds in the contest — his second double double of the season.

Sophomore guard Myles Williams also scored 16 points for CVCC.

Eric Peaks scored a game-high 28 points for Guilford Tech, which improves to 7-6 overall and 1-5 in Region X play.

Catawba Valley trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half, but cut its deficit to as little as six points late in the game before falling by 10 points.

The CVCC men's basketball team is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Fayetteville Tech in Region X action. Game time is set for 3 p.m at the Tarlton Complex.
