Oglesby, Williams lead CVCC to second win in a row

HICKORY, N.C. — Tyrell Oglesby scored 24 points and Myles Williams added 20, leading the Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team to its second-straight victory on Saturday with 85-76 win against visiting Lenoir Community College.

With the win, CVCC improves to 8-9 overall and 3-5 in Region X play this season.

Oglesby scored 21 of his team-best 24 points during the second half of the contest, marking the fifth time in his CVCC career that the freshman from Inman, S.C. has scored 20 or more points in a game this season.

Williams, a sophomore from Morganton, N.C., made four 3-pointers, tying his season and career highs for points in a game.

Trading the lead throughout the contest, the Red Hawks used a five-minute scoreless stretch by the Lancers (4-11, 2-7 in Region X) late in the second half to gain control for good in the contest.

The CVCC men's basketball team goes for its third-straight win when it returns to action on Monday for a 6:30 p.m. contest against Pitt Community College. Admission is free.
