Red Hawks fall to conference-leading Hurricanes

LOUISBURG, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team dropped its third-straight game on Saturday, falling 103-65 on the road to conference leader Louisburg College.

Tyrell Oglesby led the Red Hawks (8-12, 3-8 in Region X) with 15 points, while Marcus Talley added 12 points. Post player Matthew Gray also reached double figures in scoring, tallying a season-high 10 points in the game.

Seth McCoy paced the Hurricanes (15-4, 9-1 in Region X) with 24 points, including 16 of those scored in the first half. Lewis Freeman (16 points), Jalen Gaddy (15 points) and Jordan Oakley (12 points) also reached double figures in scoring for Louisburg.

The Hurricanes built a 64-23 lead by halftime and despite being outscored 42-39 were able to hold their large lead throughout most of Saturday's conference game.

The CVCC men's basketball team will try to get back on the winning track Wednesday when it hosts Guilford Tech at the Tarlton Complex. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
