PETERSBURG, Va. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team suffered a 80-67 road loss at the hands of Richard Bland College on Saturday at Statesman Hall.
Tyrell Oglesby led the Red Hawks (9-15, 4-11 in Region X) with 17 points off the bench. Forward Isayah Johnson added a double double for CVCC with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and guard Marcus Talley scored 13 points and registered six steals.
Marvin Troutman paced the Statesmen (17-6, 11-4 in Region X) with 13 points off the bench, and starters Ryan Jones, Robert Smith and Stanley Taylor added 11 points apiece in a balanced scoring attack for Richard Bland.
The Red Hawks trailed 38-26 at halftime, but were only outscored by one point in the second half. Talley led the second-half charge with 12 points, while Johnson scored 11.
The CVCC men's basketball team will attempt to bounce back on Tuesday when it returns to action against Vance-Granville Community College in the second game of a home doubleheader that also features the CVCC women's basketball team hosting Patrick Henry Community College at 5 p.m.
Tip off for the men's game is scheduled for around 7 p.m.
