Red Hawks fall on road against Patriots, 93-85

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team started a three-game road trip on Wednesday with a difficult 93-85 loss against Patrick Henry Community College.

Forward Isayah Johnson paced Catawba Valley (10-17, 5-13 in Region X) with 19 points in the contest, while guard Tyrell Oglesby added 17 points.

The Red Hawks fell behind early in Wednesday's conference road game and trailed 52-32 at the halftime break. Hafeez Anifowoshe scored 15 first-half points to lead the charge for the Patriots (13-12, 11-8 in Region X).

Catawba Valley would rally, though, outscoring Patrick Henry 53-41 in the second half — led by 15 second-half points from Oglesby.

Despite that effort, the Patriots — powered by a pair of 20-point performances from Tahkey Williams (23 points) and Anifowoshe (20 points) — were able to hold on down the stretch for the win.

The CVCC men's basketball team will attempt to bounce back on Friday when it plays the second of three-straight road games against Bryant & Stratton College (18-9, 14-5)  in Norfolk, Va. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
