FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team suffered a 92-87 loss against Fayetteville Tech in its regular season finale on Sunday afternoon.
Tyrell Oglesby led the Red Hawks (10-19, 5-15 in Region X) with a team-high 21 points in the contest, while Marcus Talley (16 points), Victoria Tshiona (15 points) and Isayah Johnson (13 points) also reached double figures in scoring for Catawba Valley.
CVCC led 51-42 at halftime, but Fayetteville Tech (15-13, 11-9 in Region X) rallied in the second half, outscoring the Red Hawks 50-36 to pick up its 11th Region X victory.
Johnny Hughes and Jabari Bowman powered the Trojans with 20 and 19 points, respectively. Bowman scored 14 of his points in the second half of the contest to lead the comeback for Fayetteville Tech.
Up next for the CVCC men's basketball team is the first round of the Region X tournament, which takes place starting Saturday in Petersburg, Va. The Red Hawks enter the event as the No. 9 seed.
