Johnson, Red Hawks knock off Saints, 73-54

HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team followed up a 57-point season-opening win with a 73-54 victory against the visiting Limestone JV team at the Tarlton Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Isayah Johnson paced the Red Hawks with a team-high 12 points. Sal-Bey Young scored nine points for Catawba Valley and Quade Parks added eight points.

CVCC (2-0) held a 33-28 halftime advantage and outscored the Saints 40-26 in the second half. Jordan Powell led the charge for the Red Hawks with six points in the second half, and Brandon Reeves and Zach De La Cruz added five points in the half.

Christian Miller-Caldwell and Aaron Lane-Scott led Limestone with 13 points apiece.

The CVCC men's basketball team returns to action on Monday for a 7 p.m. contest against Southern Wesleyan at the Tarlton Complex.
