Red Hawks win ninth-straight, defeat Lancers 91-46

LENOIR, N.C. — The 17th-ranked Catawba Valley Community College women's basketball team won its ninth-straight game on Sunday, dispatching host Lenoir Community College, 91-46.

Sophomore guard Tory Agrusa scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Red Hawks (20-4, 15-1 in Region X), while fellow sophomores Shaniya Lester and Tanisha Wall added 18 points each.

Agrusa broke her previous career high for scoring (20 points), which was set on Tuesday in a 91-64 victory against Patrick Henry Community College.

Amber Roberson scored 12 points to pace the Lancers (2-18, 1-18 in Region X) in Sunday's conference game.

Catawba Valley led 45-16 at halftime against Lenoir before outscoring the Lancers 46-30 in the second half on their way to victory.

The CVCC women's basketball team will try to stretch its win streak to 10 games when it returns to action on Wednesday with a home conference contest against Guilford Tech.

The Titans gave the Red Hawks their only Region X loss of the season back on Tuesday, Jan. 23 — an 87-84 setback in overtime in Greensboro, N.C.

Tip off for Wednesday's conference rematch at the Tarlton Complex is slated for 6 p.m.
