No. 15 Red Hawks avenge loss to Titans, win 104-72

HICKORY, N.C. — The 15th-ranked Catawba Valley Community College women's basketball team avenged its lone conference loss of the season on Wednesday night, knocking off visiting Guilford Tech 104-72 at the Tarlton Complex.

Sophomore forward Tanisha Wall led the Red Hawks (21-4, 16-1 in Region X) in the contest, tying her career high in scoring with 23 points. She added 12 rebounds for her eighth career double double.

Fellow sophomore Shaniya Lester added 21 points — her 13th 20-point game of the season.

Catawba Valley led 49-33 at halftime against Guilford (17-6, 13-6 in Region X), and the Red Hawks outscored the Titans 55-39 in the third and fourth quarters to secure the conference win.

Sophomores Tory Agrusa (19 points), Nikkyana McCaskill (16 points) and Joyous Wilson (14 points) also reached double figures in scoring in the contest.

J'Nai Millner led Guilford Tech with 23 points in the contest.

The CVCC women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday for a pivotal conference showdown with No. 8 Cape Fear Community College. The teams are first and second in the Region X standings.

Tip off for the game between the Red Hawks and Sea Devils is slated for 1 p.m. in Wilmington, N.C.
