MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College women's basketball team earned a 58-54 road win against the Mount Olive JV team on Monday night.

In the victory, Red Hawk sophomore forward Alexia Cunningham set the single-game rebounding record, matching her jersey number with 24 rebounds.

Cunningham, who also scored 15 points in the contest, breaks her sister Nijah's single-game rebounding record. Nijah Cunningham recorded 21 rebounds in an 81-72 road victory against Patrick & Henry on Feb. 17, 2023.

Freshman Sabrina Lewis added 21 points and nine rebounds in the win for Catawba Valley (1-1), and sophomore Angelina Bobbitt also reached double figures in scoring for the Red Hawks with 11 points.

The Catawba Valley Community College women's basketball team returns to action this weekend for a two-day tournament at Florida State College at Jacksonville.

The Red Hawks play Palm Beach State on Friday at 4 p.m. before finishing the event with a 2 p.m. contest against Florida State College at Jacksonville.
