HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College volleyball program finished the Region X-travaganza 5-0 by winning the final two games on Saturday.  The Red Hawks dominated the competition only dropping one set on the weekend.

Here are a complete recap of Saturday's results:

CVCC 3, Pitt 1

The Red Hawks came out of the gate slow in their first match, falling in the first set to Pitt Community College.  However, the Red Hawks were able to bounce back and win the final three sets to claim an important conference win. 

Set scores were 19-25, 25-12, 25-21 and 25-17

Karysn Mundy led the Red Hawks with 10 kills, while Sabrina Pinard added nine kills.  Leslie Leonard had an impressive defensive effort, posting seven blocks in the match.

 
CVCC 3, USC Salkehatchie 0

The Red Hawks posted one of their more dominant performances in the final match of the tournament by topping USC Salkehatchie in straight sets.

Set scores were 25-2, 25-17 and  25-9

Leslie Leonard paced the Red Hawks with nine kills, while Adair Melton added six kills. Leonard also added three blocks, and setter Emilee Webber had six aces in the match.

The Red Hawks are now 14-3 on the season and 8-0 in the conference.  Their next match will be on the road against Belmont Abbey on Thursday, Sept. 28.
