HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team finished its play in the 5th Annual Region X-travaganza with an perfect 5-0 record on Saturday at the Tarlton Complex.
The Red Hawks (9-6, 4-0 in Region X) defeated Pitt Community College and Surry Community College by a pair of 3-0 scores before finishing the event with a 3-1 victory against Louisburg College.

Catawba Valley 3, Pitt 0
Paced by Emma Clark's eight kills, the Red Hawks shut out the Bulldogs in their opening match on day two of the Region X-travaganza.
Set scores were 25-11, 25-16 and 25-20.
Sage Harrington added seven kills and two blocks for the Red Hawks in the victory.
Catawba Valley 3, Surry 0
Powered by Sage Harrington's eight kills, the Red Hawks swept the Knights in CVCC's second match of the Region X-travaganza on Saturday.
Set scores were 25-13, 25-20 and 25-18.
Emma Clark added six kills for Catawba Valley, and setter Emilee Webber made three aces — part of an 11-ace performance as a team by the Red Hawks.
Catawba Valley 3, Louisburg 1
Despite dropping its first set in conference play this season, the Red Hawks battled back for a strong four-set victory against the Hurricanes in the finale of the Region X-travaganza on Saturday afternoon.
Set scores were 25-10, 20-25, 25-12 and 25-13.
Rachel Delcamp paced CVCC with six kills, while Sage Harrington, Meredith Patterson and Emma Clark added five kills apiece.
The Catawba Valley volleyball team returns to action on Thursday for a road tri-match in Thomasville, N.C. The Red Hawks face host Davidson County at 3 p.m. followed by a 4:30 p.m. match against Spartanburg Methodist.
