CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team fell 3-1 to Sauk Valley during consolation bracket action in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena.
Set scores were 21-25, 22-25, 25-23 and 21-25.
Outside hitters Aasia McNeill and Carter Gibson led the Red Hawks (21-4) with 11 and 10 kills, respectively, while middle hitter Delaney Conner recorded a career-high nine blocks.
Catawba Valley setter Amber Barker tallied 32 assists — her second match of the tournament with 30-plus assists.
Defensively, Red Hawk libero Caitlin Dailey recorded a team-high 27 digs — her most digs in a match so far during nationals.
The sixth-seeded Red Hawks will face fifth-seeded Kirkwood — the host for the national tournament — in the seventh-place game of the tournament on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. Central Standard Time (Noon EST).
