Shannon Hudson starts her 11th season as the head women's volleyball coach at Catawba Valley Community College in 2019.
Last season, Hudson guided the Red Hawks to their seventh-straight Region X regular-season championship, and the Catawba Valley volleyball team was undefeated in conference play for the sixth consecutive year.
In 2016, the Red Hawks finished their season with a 41-7 record under Hudson, winning the District P championship — reaching the NJCAA Division II National Championship before finishing a program-best fourth in the country.
Hudson has a career coaching record of 314-70 with the Red Hawks — the winningest women's volleyball coach in school history and the winningest coach in any athletic program at CVCC.
She's coached 35 All-Region performers, seven Region X Players of the Year and five NJCAA All-Americans. In addition, Hudson’s student-athletes have achieved high standards in the classroom.
On Nov. 29, 2018, Hudson was named one of two recipients of the Two-Year College Northeast-Southeast Region Coach of the Year honor by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) after leading her program to a ninth-place national finish and a 36-10 record. Hudson adds her Northeast-Southeast Region Coach of the Year honor to her four Region X Coach of the Year awards (2012-13, 2015-16) and five District O Coach of the Year awards (2009, 2012-13, 2016, 2018).
Hudson earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gardner-Webb University in 2001 at the age 19.
She is married with three children.
