HICKORY, N.C. — Fifty-six Catawba Valley Community College student athletes have been named to the Athletic Director's List for their work in the classroom this past spring semester.

Catawba Valley Community College student athletes are eligible for the Athletic Director's list if they have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester.

"I'm always proud to honor our student-athletes who push to excel in the classroom," said CVCC Executive Director of Student Life & Athletics Nick Schroeder. "Achieving a 3.5 grade point average is outstanding for any student, but having so many student-athletes who are playing their sport and posting high GPAs is a product of not only their hard work, but the dedication of our coaches, staff and faculty at CVCC."

All four National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) programs that the Red Hawks field — baseball, men's basketball, softball and women's basketball — finished the 2024-25 school year with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher making them all eligible to be named an NJCAA Academic Team of Distinction, which will be announced later this summer.

Of the 56 student athletes honored this spring of their academics, 28 are members of the Red Hawk baseball team, 10 are from the Red Hawk bass fishing team, six are on the Red Hawk softball team and four each are on the Red Hawk women's basketball, men's basketball and esports teams.

The Red Hawk softball program led the way for all athletic programs for the semester with a cumulative team GPA of 3.6 GPA.

Overall, 120 Red Hawk student athletes made the Athletic Director's List between the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters.
