Jenkins named First Team All-American

For the sixth straight year the Catawba Valley Community College Baseball team places a student-athlete on the NJCAA All-American list.  Region 10 Player of the Year, Chandler Jenkins (West Lincoln HS), becomes only the second student-athlete in program history to earn the First Team All-American award.

This season, Jenkins was top ten in seven offensive categories and top four in four categories including 3rd in the nation with 18 homeruns, 3rd in the nation with 164 total bases, 3rd in the nation with 40 extra base hits and 4th in the nation with an .868 slugging percentage.  Jenkins also was 7th in the nation with 87 hits, 7th in the nation with 74 RBI, 7th in the nation with a .460 batting average and 12th in the nation with 21 doubles.

"We are very excited for our program to have its sixth straight All-American.  We take pride in our players' achievements as it is a testimony to their hard work," said head baseball coach, Paul Rozzelle.  "Chandler is no different.  He joins a special group of players that have come through our program and he definitely belongs there as an ultimate competitor.  I wish I could have 35 of him every year."

Jenkins transferred to CVCC after a red-shirt year at Gardner Webb.  After an injury shortened freshman season in 2016, Jenkins posted one of the best CVCC individual seasons in program history breaking seven season team records and now sits in the top there of six career records of CVCC.  Jenkins was also named to the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team and had signed in April to East Carolina University where he will attend this upcoming fall.
