HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College Esports program completed its most successful competition season this fall with three championship wins and numerous top finishes.

For the first time in history, the Red Hawks competed in three different college esports leagues this fall — National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE), National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) and National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC).

"This fall semester we wanted to take our CVCC Esports program to the next level with the integration of three leagues," said Red Hawk Esports coach Cody Dalton. "Our Red Hawk student athletes met and exceeded the challenges presented to them."

The Red Hawk Esports team thrived in each of these leagues despite facing stiff competition from not only two-year junior colleges, but four-year programs as well.

In NJCAAE, every active member of the Red Hawk Esports roster qualified for the playoffs in nine game titles — Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty Warzone, FIFA, Madden 24, Mario Kart, Rocket League, Street Fighter 6, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and VALORANT.

The Red Hawk Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4v4 team brought home the program's first NJCAAE national championship — capping off a perfect 11-0 season and only dropping two maps all season long in the Contender Series. Members of the Red Hawk COD 4v4 team include Colin Robinson, Devante' Moore, Cody Leonard, Kasen Turner, Coleman Williams and Jackson Vazquez.

Turner, Williams and Vazquez also claimed the Call of Duty Warzone championship in an All-Red Hawk final against teammates Daniel Newton and Cody Leonard.

Red Hawk FIFA competitor Niste Ordonez earned third place in the NJCAAE Open Series — his third-straight season reaching the top-four competitors.

CVCC also earned its first-ever NJCAAE playoff victories in both Rocket League and Street Fighter 6.

The Catawba Valley VALORANT Red team, which earned a third-place finish in the NJCAAE Contender Series, also qualified for the NECC playoffs and won its Divisional championship in NACE by defeating undefeated Clemson.

The Red Hawk League of Legends team also made the NACE playoffs in its first season of existence.

The Catawba Valley Community College Esports team will celebrate its successful Fall 23 this Friday and Saturday during the program's third annual 24-hour stream.

The 24-hour live stream starts at noon Friday and ends at noon Saturday. It will be broadcast on the team's official Twitch channel — twitch.tv/cvccredhawks
