Red Hawks finish strong at Bassmaster College Series Nationals
GEORGETOWN, S.C. — Four members of the Catawba Valley Community College bass fishing team competed this past weekend at the Bassmaster College Series National Championship on Winyah Bay in Georgetown, S.C.
 
Competing in a field of 240 anglers, the Red Hawks' Hunter Keller and Wes Smith placed in 50th, catching 10 bass weighing 15 pounds, 14 ounces. It was the first time that Keller and Smith had competed in a national tournament.
 
Catawba Valley teammates Lane Bailey and Justin Eggers finished in 85th place, catching 13 pounds, four ounces of bass. It was the first time that all four Red Hawk anglers had fished in tidal waters.

Up next for the Red Hawk bass fishing team is an appearance at the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash on Kentucky Lake in Paris, Tenn. on Sept. 17-18.
