Red Hawks hit century mark again, defeat Flying Fleet

DUE WEST, S.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team scored more than 100 points for the fourth time this season on Monday, defeating the Erskine JV team 102-93 in non-conference action.

Zack Goodman led the way for CVCC (6-2) with a career-high 20 points, while Zavion Bianchini added a career-best 19 points

Through eight games, the Red Hawks now have the second-highest scoring offense — 105.3 points per contest — among National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II men's basketball teams in the nation.

Catawba Valley held a 55-49 halftime lead against the Flying Fleet paced by 17 points from Goodman — 15 of those coming via 3-point baskets.

Bianchini exploded in the second half for 17 of his 19 points in the game, while teammate Benton Wofford scored nine points in the half and finished the game with 16 points to help CVCC close out its non-conference road win.

The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team returns to action this Wednesday for a pivotal road conference match up against top-ranked Division II team Davidson-Davie. Tip off between the Red Hawks and Storm is set for 7 p.m. in Thomasville.
