HICKORY, N.C. — Five members of the Catawba Valley Community College women's basketball team have been honored by Region 10 following the conclusion of the regular season.

Red Hawks sophomore forward Kelis Carmon has been named first team All-Region, while four more Red Hawks — Keziah Soogrim, Jordan Joyner, Tre'zha Muhammad and Kenzley Dunlap — were named Academic All-Region 10.

"Congratulations and well deserved on Kelis Carmon receiving All-Region," said CVCC head women's basketball coach Tisha England. "I'm also so proud of the ladies for being student-athletes and making the All-Academic Team as well."

A 6-1 forward from Wendell, N.C., Carmon led the Red Hawks in both scoring (14.5 per game) and rebounding (8.5 per game) this season. She also recorded a team-best seven double doubles.

This is the second-straight year that Carmon has received All-Region honors after being selected to the second team last winter.

"I am very thankful for making first team," Carmon said. "I want to thank my family and my coaches for making me better. I look forward to receiving more awards throughout my career. This is just one of many."

The four Academic All-Region 10 honors by Joyner, Soogrim, Muhammad and Dunlap mark the fourth-straight year that the Red Hawks have at least four selections named to the Academic All-Region, goes to players who have at least a 3.7 GPA in one previous semester or 3.6 GPA for two previous semesters.
