Red Hawks remain at No. 15 in the nation

HICKORY, N.C. — Despite an unbeaten week of play, the Catawba Valley Community College volleyball program remained at No. 15 in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, which was released on Tuesday.

The Red Hawks defeated USC Lancaster, Louis-burg College and Guilford Tech all in road matches last week, giving up just one set in those contests.

On Monday night, CVCC won its 22nd and 23rd matches of the season on "Sophomore Night" — honoring veteran players Hailey Tatu, Leslie Leonard, Mallory Bailey, Ramsey Fulmer and Sabrina Pinard in their final home game of their careers.

The Red Hawks defeated Lenoir Community College and previously one-loss Walters State on Monday to improve to 23-8 overall on the season and 13-0 in Region X play.

Catawba Valley is back in action at 4 p.m. Friday when it travels to face Wake Tech (22-8, 10-4) in the first of two final conference matches in two days.

The Red Hawks also face Cape Fear Community College (18-4, 11-1) in Brunswick at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
