Red Hawks sweep tri-match with Storm, Pioneers

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team swept a road tri-match on Thursday afternoon with host Davidson County and D-I Spartanburg Methodist.

The Red Hawks improve to 11-6 overall and 5-0 in Region X play with the victories.

Catawba Valley 3, Davidson County 0

Behind Emma Clark's five kills and four blocks, the Red Hawks won their first game of the tri-match in straight sets against the Storm.

Set scores were 25-15, 25-14 and 25-10.

Siena Naotala and Rachel Delcamp added four kills each for CVCC, and sophomore setter Emilee Webber made 13 assists.

Defensively, sophomore libero Emily Williams made 13 digs, while Delcamp added eight digs.

Catawba Valley 3, Spartanburg Methodist 0

The Red Hawks completed their tri-match sweep with another straight sets victory — this time against the Pioneers.

Set scores were 25-11, 25-16 and 25-18.

Rachel Delcamp led the offensive attack for Catawba Valley with seven kills, while Meredith Patterson and Sage Harrington added six and five kills each, respectively.

Defensively, Emma Clark made five blocks (three assisted) and added four kills, and libero Emily Williams made a team-high 15 digs. Emily Webber also made 13 assists from her setter position.


The Catawba Valley volleyball team returns to action on Monday for a road conference match against USC Lancaster in Lancaster, S.C. The two teams were originally scheduled to play on Sept. 17, but the contest was rescheduled due to Hurricane Florence. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
