HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The 16th-ranked Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team earned a split in its two matches during the first day of competition at the Wallace State Fall Bash on Friday.

The Red Hawks (19-8) secured a second win this season against Division I Vincennes University before falling to host Wallace State in the nightcap.

Behind 11 kills and three block assists from middle hitter Emma Clark, the Red Hawks earned a four-set victory against the Trailblazers on Friday afternoon.

Set scores were 25-22, 20-25, 27-25 and 25-15.

Siena Naotala added 10 kills and six blocks (all assisted) in the win for CVCC. Rachel Delcamp and Sage Harrington also made nine and eight kills each.

Defensively, Catawba Valley libero Emily Williams made a team-high 17 digs, and freshman Madi Bolch contributed 11 digs.

Sophomore setter Emilee Webber etched her season-high in assists with 25, and fellow captain and setter Macy Pope made 20 assists — her third 20-assist performance of the season and second coming against Vincennes.

Wallace State 3, No. 16 Catawba Valley 1

The D-I Lions avenged a 3-0 loss to the Red Hawks during last week's Valley Invitational, snapping Catawba Valley's six-match win streak.

Set scores were 25-23, 18-25, 14-25 and 22-25.

Rachel Delcamp paced CVCC with 10 kills and five blocks (four assisted) in the match, while Sage Harrington and Emma Clark added six kills apiece.

Defensively, three Red Hawk players reached double-figures in digs, including Emily Williams (25), Madi Bolch (13) and Emilee Webber (10).

Webber also made a team-high 19 assists, and fellow setter Macy Pope made 16 assists.


The Red Hawks finish play at the Wallace State Fall Bash on Saturday with matches against Coastal Alabama-South at 9 a.m. and Spartanburg Methodist at 1 p.m.
