HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The 16th-ranked Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team made it two wins in two matches against Division I teams during day two of the Wallace State Fall Bash on Saturday.

The Red Hawks defeated Coastal Alabama-South and Spartanburg Methodist in the final day of the Fall Bash, improving to 21-8 overall on the season.

No. 16 Catawba Valley 3, Coastal Alabama-South 2

Behind Emma Clark's 14 kills and six blocks, the Red Hawks earned a thrilling five-set victory against the Sun Chiefs in CVCC's opener on day two of the Wallace State Fall Bash on Saturday morning.

Set scores were 25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 26-28 and 15-9.

Clark was one of three Red Hawks who tallied double digits in kills during the match, including teammates Sage Harrington (11 kills) and Meredith Patterson (10 kills).

Three Catawba Valley volleyball players also tallied double digits defensively in digs, including Emily Williams (21 digs), Madi Bolch (13) and Paige Sizemore (12).

Setter Emilee Webber helped aid the CVCC offensive attack with a season-high 27 assists, and fellow setter Macy Pope added 15 assists.

No. 16 Catawba Valley 3, Spartanburg Methodist 1

The Red Hawks earned their third win of the season against the Pioneers, defeating them in four sets in their Fall Bash finale on Saturday afternoon.

Set scores were 25-19, 15-25, 25-14 and 25-10.

Emma Clark paced CVCC with 13 kills and seven blocks (four solo), while Meredith Patterson, Sage Harrington and Siena Naotala added eight, seven and six kills each, respectively.

Defensively, Emily Williams tallied 21 digs, Paige Sizemore added 10 digs and Macy Pope made nine digs and 13 assists. Emilee Webber led Catawba Valley with 21 assists.


The 16th-ranked CVCC volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday for a pivotal Region X match up with Surry Community College. The two teams are currently tied atop the conference standings with 7-0 records. Match time is set for 6 p.m. in Dobson, N.C.
