Red Hawks sweep tri-match, improve to 10-0 in Region X

LOUISBURG, N.C. — The 16th-ranked Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team made it a perfect 10-0 in conference matches with a tri-match sweep of Cape Fear and host Louisburg on the road Friday night.

Rachel Delcamp and Emma Clark both made nine kills each, leading the Red Hawks to a sweep in their tri-match opener Friday afternoon against the Hurricanes.

Set scores were 25-20, 25-16 and 25-12.

Sage Harrington added eight kills in the win for Catawba Valley.

Defensively, CVCC libero Emily Williams tallied 18 digs, while Macy Pope added 14 digs. Pope also recorded 20 assists — her fourth 20-plus assist performance of the season.

Clark also led the Red Hawks in blocks with four (three assisted).

Behind one of the best performances of the season from middle hitter Sage Harrington, the Red Hawks swept the Sea Devils in CVCC's second and final contest of Friday's tri-match.

Set scores were 25-10, 25-15 and 25-15.

Harrington tallied a team-high 10 kills — just one kill shy of her season-best in a single match. Emma Clark added eight kills and Meredith Patterson made seven kills for the Red Hawks.

At the net, setters Emilee Webber and Macy Pope helped aid the Catawba Valley attack by dishing out 13 and 12 assists, respectively.

Defensively, sophomore libero Emily Williams made a team-high 11 digs for CVCC.


It's a quick turnaround for the CVCC volleyball team, which plays two matches on Saturday. The Red Hawks face Lenoir Community College in Kinston at 10 a.m. before traveling to Fayetteville Tech for a 2:30 p.m. match.
