Red Hawks close regular season with two victories

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The 14th-ranked Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team concluded its regular season on Saturday with a sweep in its final two matches at the Parkland College Halloween Challenge.

The Red Hawks improve to 30-9 overall on the season, surpassing last season's win total in the process.

Behind Emma Clark's nine kills and six blocks, the Red Hawks won in straight sets to open play on Saturday morning at the Parkland College Halloween Challenge.

Set scores were 25-23, 25-22 and 25-15.

Sage Harrington and Rachel Delcamp added six kills apiece in the win for Catawba Valley. Harrington also recorded four blocks (two solo, two assisted) in the match.

Defensively, Emily Williams tallied 17 digs and Macy Pope added 13 digs, 16 assists and two service aces. Emilee Webber also put up 15 assists and two aces.

Rachel Delcamp and Emma Clark each recorded nine kills in a straight sets victory for the Red Hawks against the Chargers to close the Parkland College Halloween Challenge.

Set scores were 25-14, 25-23 and 25-20.

Clark added eight blocks in the match, including one solo and seven assisted. Siena Naotala also tallied seven blocks (one solo, six assisted).

At the net, setter Emilee Webber helped pace CVCC's offensive attack with 17 assists.


The Red Hawks now prepare for the Region X/District O tournament, which takes place this Friday and Saturday at Lenoir Community College in Kinston, N.C. The brackets for that tournament will be released early this week.

The winner of the Region X/District O tournament will advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association DII National Championship in Charleston, W.Va. on Nov. 14-17.
