No. 5 Red Hawks sweep Knights; Clark sets block record

DOBSON, N.C. — The fifth-ranked Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team capped an unbeaten conference regular season on Thursday with a 3-0 road victory against Surry Community College. This Red Hawks conference play ends with an 11-0 record without dropping a set to any conference foe, a first in program history!

Set scores were 25-19, 25-18 and 25-16.

During the match, CVCC sophomore middle hitter Emma Clark etched her 312th career block, surpassing former Catawba Valley and UNC Charlotte standout Anna Henderson for the career block record.

Clark paced the Red Hawks (28-4, 11-0 in Region 10) in Thursday's Region 10 win with a team-high 15 kills and two blocks. Fellow middle hitter Sage Harrington also reached double figures in kills with 10.

Defensively, sophomore captain and libero Bre Myers recorded a team-high 13 digs for Catawba Valley, while setter Macy Pope led the team in assists with 12.

The CVCC volleyball team closes out its regular season on Tuesday with a road match at Walters State. Match time in Morristown, Tenn. is set for 5 p.m.
