Former Draughn High School standout Tylyn "Ty" Triplett enters her second year as an assistant softball coach at CVCC in 2019.

During her first season as assistant coach for the Red Hawks, Triplett was a part of a first-year program that went 11-9 overall and 4-2 in Region X play.

A two-year starter at Lenoir-Rhyne University, Triplett helps mold the future of the Red Hawks' pitching staff.

Triplett was a four-time all-state, all-conference and all-district pitcher at Draughn High School. During that time she compiled a 47-22 mark in the circle with 820 strikeouts and 559.2 innings pitched with a 1.42 ERA, and she threw three no-hitters, including one perfect game. At the plate, Triplett batted .465 as a sophomore and .446 as a senior.

During her time with the Wildcats, Triplett was also named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) South Region Player of the Week, and she also led Draughn High School to at least one state playoff victory in each of her four seasons.

After originally signing and attending UNC Wilmington for softball, Triplett transferred to Lenoir-Rhyne University, where she compiled a career record of 17-2, including an 11-2 record in 2017. Her 89.5 winning percentage ranks in the top 10 all time by a LR pitcher during their career.

Triplett recorded a career 2.60 ERA and averaged 6.13 strikeouts per seven innings pitched. She tossed her lone collegiate no-hitter against Converse College on April 3, 2016.

In the spring of 2019, Triplett served as an assistant on the Draughn High School softball staff.

She currently resides in Hickory with her husband, Aaron Hodges.
